Position Summary Perform trade specific quality work consistent with AWS standards, OSHA requirements, and company procedures to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Role Responsibilities \n - Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Configure, operate, and maintain welding and trade-specific machinery to ensure optimal performance.
\n - Blueprint Interpretation: Analyze work orders, technical drawings, and blueprints to accurately determine welding requirements and specifications.
\n - Label and Equipment Selection: Interpret labels and select the appropriate machinery and operational sequence based on project needs.
\n - Inspection & Documentation: Conduct thorough inspections to verify product compliance; maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance and inspections.
\n - Testing: Proficient in visual inspection to assess weld quality.
\n - Record Keeping: Accurately document inspection results and quality assessments to ensure traceability and compliance.
\n - Material Handling Equipment Operation: Operate lift trucks and overhead cranes safely to transport materials and components.
\n - Measurement Skills: Employ precision tools, such as tape measures, to ensure accurate dimensions and alignments.
\n - Procedure Adherence: Understand and follow all shop procedures to maintain consistency and quality in work processes.
\n - Safety Compliance: Adhere to established safety standards and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
\n - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Consistently utilize appropriate PPE to safeguard against workplace hazards.
\n - Regulatory Knowledge: Understand and comply with industry regulations and standards, such as those set by OSHA and the American Welding Society (AWS).
\n - Effective Communication: Clearly communicate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are understood and met.
\n - Workplace Organization: Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
\n - Additional Duties: Perform other assignments as directed to support team objectives and operational needs

Qualifications Must be a U.S. Citizen
Shop Welder-1:
\n - Entry-level role focused on performing basic welding tasks under supervision. Ideal for individuals with foundational welding skills seeking to develop expertise in a manufacturing environment.
\n - 2+ years of welding and metal processing experience (FCAW, MIG).
\n - High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
\n - Vocational training in welding or metal fabrication preferred.
\n - Must obtain 3G welding certification before advancing to Shop Welder-2.
\n - Demonstrates ability to efficiently weld and inspect basic products meeting quality standards.
\n - Reads and interprets simple blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
\n - Performs basic welding equipment maintenance under occasional or regular supervision.
\n - Processes intermediate math and safety knowledge; understands foundational weld symbols.
\n - Willing and able to follow instructions, learn new tasks, and work as part of a team.

Shop Welder-2: Includes all Shop Welder-1 qualifications plus:
\n - Builds on Shop Welder-1 responsibilities with more complex welding work performed independently.
\n - 3+ years of welding and metal processing experience (FCAW, MIG, in multiple modes of transfer).
\n - 3G certified required; must obtain 6g welding certification before advancing to Shop Welder-3.
\n - Proficient in welding and inspecting medium complexity tickets (including light metals) meeting quality standards.
\n - Reads and interprets blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings independently.
\n - Independently performs routine maintenance on welding equipment.
\n - Applies intermediate math including some trigonometry and geometry.
\n - Mentors Shop Welder-1's.
\n - Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
\n - Proactively collaborates with team members to meet production goals.
\n - Understands continuous improvement initiatives and is willing and able to make contributions.
\n

Shop Welder-3: Includes all Shop Welder-2 qualifications plus:
\n - Senior-level welder responsible for complex welding projects, structural fittings, and team leadership.
\n - 5+ years of welding, metal processing and structural fitting.
\n - Expert welding, inspecting advanced complexity tickets (including light and heavy structural metals) meeting quality standards.
\n - Reads and interprets advanced blueprints and manages job requirements independently.
\n - Performs and troubleshoots welding equipment maintenance.
\n - Mentors Shop Welder-1's &2's.
\n - Applies advanced math including trigonometry and geometry.
\n - Leads, mentors, and develops a team of up to seven (7) welders.
\n - Manage performance metrics (safety, quality, delivery and productivity) and recommend process improvement to enhance performance.
\n - Regularly communicates order status and production updates to leadership.
\n - Demonstrates deep understanding of welding codes, standards, and quality assurance.
\n - Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven ability to collaborate with engineering and production teams to effectively resolve complex welding-related challenges.
\n - Actively supports lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability \n - Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas.
\n - Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations.
\n - Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
\n - Work in all types of weather.
\n - Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
\n - Ability to lift, move, and/or carry 50 lbs.
\n - Comply with all company policies and procedures.
