The Role

As a Senior Solar Design Engineer at BlueWave, you will play a key role in shaping the development of solar and energy storage projects ranging from 1MW - 250MW and supporting the Engineering team with highquality design and drafting. This role sits at the intersection of technical precision and creative problemsolving, requiring collaboration with Development, Grid Integration, Legal, and other teams to produce optimized system layouts that maximize efficiency and performance. With a mix of independent work, teamwork, and onsite engagement, this position offers a dynamic opportunity to influence the design of largescale renewable energy projects while driving innovation in the clean energy space.

What You'll Do

  • Lead discussions with Development Engineers and senior designers to produce AutoCAD layouts and design packages.
  • Work independently as well as with a team to meet established deadlines.
  • Generate drawings that are in line with company drawing standards and templates.
  • Follow quality control procedures for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Communicate proactively with the team.
  • Generate Bill of Materials from CAD drawings.
  • Provide civil and electrical construction details for PV and BESS systems.
  • Provide expected yield and production optimization ideas at various stages of design development.
  • Travel 25%-30% to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering.
  • 2year AAS degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting or equivalent with additional experience in place of the above.
  • 5+ years of drafting/design experience in the solar PV or renewable industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of solar PV designs and layout considerations.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical plans, diagrams, and terminology.
  • Superb problemsolving and criticalthinking skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow technically.
  • Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and production estimation tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, PVCase, etc.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • NABCEP Certification.
  • Familiarity with civil and grading design.
  • High voltage/substation experience.
  • Experience designing utilityscale projects in PV, storage or Cogen facilities.
  • Construction Management experience.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000 per year + bonus. Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, jobrelated knowledge, skills, education, certifications, and relevant experience as outlined in the job description above.
