Kunai is hiring a Senior Developer with strong expertise in TAL , COBOL and TACL to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in banking or financial services and with deep expertise in HP NonStop mainframes and mission-critical payment systems. This role requires hands-on experience with core NonStop technologies, transaction processing environments, and high-availability architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications in TAL, COBOL, and TACL on HP NonStop systems.
• Build and support payment processing services, including gateways, authorization engines, and settlement modules.
• Collaborate with teams to optimize and scale transaction systems for high throughput and availability .
• Implement and tune solutions within HP Pathway and Guardian OS environments.
• Develop monitoring, logging, and recovery processes to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Support system upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts while preserving legacy system functionality.

Required Experience

• Strong background in HP NonStop Mainframes (Tandem/Guardian environment).
• Proven expertise in TAL (Tandem Advanced Language) , COBOL , and TACL scripting .
• Hands-on experience with payment systems , card networks, and transaction gateways.
• Solid understanding of HP Pathways , Guardian OS IPC mechanisms , and system libraries.
• Deep knowledge of high availability, fault-tolerant architectures, and scalable transaction processing .
• Experience debugging across TAL, COBOL, and TACL components .

Preferred Qualifications

• • Prior work in financial services, banking, or telecom transaction environments .
  • Experience migrating TAL modules to pTAL, C, or C++ while preserving COBOL integration.
  • Knowledge of SQL/Enscribe databases on HP NonStop.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for performance tuning and debugging hybrid systems .

Minimum Degree Required:

• Bachelor's Degree, in lieu of a degree, demonstrating in addition to the minimum years of experience required for the role, three years of specialized training and/or progressively responsible work experience in technology for each missing year of college is required
