The Clinical Program Coordinator will support a clinical and research program as part of a subspecialty clinic in the Heart Center. The coordinator will be responsible for communication about the program within Children’s National, affiliated institutions, health care professionals (primary care physicians, sub-specialty pediatricians, cardiologists, other healthcare professionals involved in childhood disease care or preventive health), patient organizations, policymakers, scientific conferences, healthcare insurance companies, schools, sports club, etc.
The primary responsibility of the coordinator is to provide clinical supervision of the program. This will include programming baseline assessment exams, compiling results and participating in the prescription decision making process with clinic physicians, discussing enrollment with patients and families, explaining the intervention and referring the patient to the appropriate tailored program. The coordinator will be in charge of programing all components of the selected program on the digital platform used by the clinic. The coordinator is the lead for the “patient education” component of the program. This includes: selection of educational content and tools and delivering of the patient education component of the program. During the program development phase, the coordinator will lead selection and training of health care professionals delivering patient education in the program, and participation in the accreditation process of centers delivering the program. The Clinical Program Coordinator will successfully complete the hospital and nursing orientation at CNMC. Will coordinate nursing care and services for patients and family members in specific healthcare specialty encounters by telephonic, electronic, in person, and/or by mail. Will consult with physicians, and other healthcare providers to resolve health concerns. All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, CNMC Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. CNMC support the development of RN relationships within the community, specifically those relationships associated with the health and wellbeing of the community at large. Responsible to lead the activities of the patient care delivery team for specific patient population. Provide continuous accountability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care and ensure that continuity of care is maintained. Skills And Experience Training and experience in patient education or patient pathway programming. Experience In Pediatrics Or Adolescent Medicine Is Strongly Preferred. Experience in preventive medicine, childhood chronic disease, oncology, or cardiology is preferred. Candidates with expertise or interest in clinical research, or future PhD candidates are also suitable profiles for our program. The earliest start date for this position is July 1, 2025. Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree (Required) Minimum Work Experience 5 years Nursing experience. Minimum of one year recent pediatric experience in a comparable setting. Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated nursing leadership experience for example as a charge nurse, educator, preceptor, council chair /member advancement on the clinical ladder or comparable positions.
