JOB SUMMARY

The Package Handler is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing packages at the university’s Print/Mail Center. This role involves receiving deliveries, processing packages, and ensuring accurate and timely distribution to students. The clerk provides direct customer service to students retrieving their packages and ensures proper organization of parcels by student ID. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive incoming packages from carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and Amazon.
• Check packages into the tracking system accurately and efficiently.
• Assist students with package pick-ups and provide excellent customer service.
• Organize and sort packages by student ID for easy retrieval.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the mailroom area.
• Perform package distribution in accordance with university policies.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and supervisors regarding package status.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior mailroom, shipping/receiving, or logistics experience.
• Familiarity with package tracking systems and handheld scanners.
• Experience working in a university or customer-facing environment.

Education

Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
