ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital is a 169-bed facility that has grown to be the region’s leading pediatric care facility. We offer a full spectrum of medical services to meet the unique needs of children from birth through adolescence. As an accredited facility by the Joint Commission, we strive to meet the highest national standards for safety and quality of care and are committed to continually improving patient care. Highlights of our facility include a Level IIIb 72-bed unit Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that provides care for premature babies as early as 22 weeks gestation and as small as 14 oz.; the region’s largest Level II pediatric trauma center; a state-of-the-art cancer center for pediatric cancer patients; and the first dual-certified asthma program for treating both inpatient and outpatients by the Joint Commission in Ohio. Position Summary: The Milk Technician will meet the nutritional needs of patients through safe preparation, storage and delivery of the infant feedings. Other duties include but are not limited to: Prepares formula and human milk accurately according to established written formulations and processesFollows pre-established preparation procedures and adheres to quality control standardsOperates all equipment needed to prepare feeding for infants in a safe and responsible mannerLabels and stores prepared formula and human milk properlyDelivers prepared formulas and human milk to patients room refrigerators dailyMaintains records of infant feeding inventory, preparation, and orders utilizing electronic medical record, barcoding and other systems as appropriate. Must have High School Diploma or equivalentMust have basic math skills and be able to successfully pass a math proficiency test related to milk feeding ordersMust have CPRMust be able to tolerate wearing PPE for extended periods of time; prolonged periods of standing; ability to operate machineryOne (1) to Two (2) year prior Milk Tech experience preferredStrong critical thinking aptitude, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and basic computer competenceAbility to comprehend simple medical terminology; possess knowledge of aseptic techniquePrior knowledge of Women’s and Infants Timeless application preferred The above list of accountabilities is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the incumbent; it should not be considered exhaustive..
