La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a full-time Grants Writer Manager for our Fund Development department in Chicago, IL.

Job Summary:

La Rabida Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grants Manager to lead the process of securing and managing government grants at the State, Federal, City, and County levels. The Grants Manager will play a critical role in supporting the hospital’s mission by identifying grant opportunities, developing and writing proposals, managing submissions, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. This individual will work closely with internal teams to align grant objectives with the hospital’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities include identifying relevant grant opportunities, preparing comprehensive grant proposals, coordinating with various stakeholders for information and documentation, submitting proposals, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting on grant progress and outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of healthcare delivery and care coordination, with experience working within healthcare grant systems, including Medicaid/Medicare, IDPH, and SAMHSA. The Grants Manager will need to navigate complex regulations and guidelines while ensuring alignment with La Rabida Children’s Hospital’s mission to provide high-quality care to children and families.

Essential Grants Manager Functions:

  • Research, identify, and analyze new funding opportunities from government agencies that would apply to the La Rabida mission.
  • Manage existing grants and oversee the management, maintenance/renewal and reporting.
  • Develop, write, edit, and submit grant proposals on deadlines that include project description, budgetary guidelines, and evaluation.
  • Work with program staff, financial staff, and development staff to create narrative, evaluation expectations, and budget components of proposals and reports in a timely and effective manner.
  • Attend departmental meetings to ensure staying up to date with program progress and accomplishments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with representatives from grant agencies and familiarize them with our mission, programs, and services.
  • Identify and utilize a grant management system for tracking and project management.
  • Maintain a calendar related to grant funding opportunities, including proposal due dates, RFP release dates, and annual grant and contract opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required. Masters Degree Preferred
  • Minimum three years of successful grants writing and management experience (Preferred in Non-Profit or health care industry)
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, fundraising software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge). Excellent writing, verbal editing, research, and interpersonal communication skills. Superior problem solving, analytical, decision making & team building skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Well organized with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent comprehensive knowledge of grant preparation and administration principles. Demonstrated success in identifying and securing public and private funding. Relevant experience includes not only professional advocacy on behalf of others, but personal experience with community-based health care, infants and children, chronic illness, mental illness, or other issues affecting our client population.

Compensation Information:

$64,439.30 - $75,000.00.
