Job Title : Director of Sales and Accommodations

Reports to: President & CEO

Location: Lakeside Association, Ohio

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience

Bonus: Eligible for annual performance-based bonus of 5-15% of base salary

Position Overview

The Director of Sales and Accommodations will oversee all aspects of lodging and accommodations, ensuring seamless operations across hotels, campgrounds, cottage rentals, group housing, and event venues. This individual will provide strategic direction, support department managers, and develop innovative sales strategies to enhance retreat and group bookings, particularly in the shoulder seasons—winter and summer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Oversight
    1. Provide guidance and strategic direction to managers overseeing various accommodation sectors, ensuring operational excellence.
  • Sales Strategy Development
    1. Create tailored sales packages for hotels, campgrounds, group housing, cottage rentals, and events to attract bookings year-round.
  • Strategic Sales Development
    1. Implement and execute a revenue growth plan that aligns with Lakeside’s marketing and advancement efforts, ensuring an omnichannel approach to guest engagement.
  • Group & Retreat Sales
    1. Build tailored sales packages for hotels, campgrounds, cottage rentals, and group housing, focusing on nonprofit conferences, board retreats, and specialized learning journeys.
  • Outbound Sales Efforts
    1. Conduct over 200 outbound sales contacts annually, engaging major group clients, retreat planners, and event organizers to drive bookings.
  • Tradeshow & Outreach Engagement
    1. Represent Lakeside at tradeshows, external sales meetings, regional events, and influencer opportunities to expand market reach.
  • Sales Optimization
    1. Transition from an order-taking model to a proactive sales approach, creating new travel booking experiences for groups and retreats.
  • Bulk Ticket Sales & Partnerships
    1. Foster relationships with churches, community organizations, and regional groups to sell bulk tickets for Lakeside entertainment events.
  • Market Trend Analysis
    1. Identify and leverage emerging travel trends, booking opportunities, and programming needs to enhance Lakeside’s offerings.
  • Revenue Tracking & Performance Analytics
    1. Pull and analyze revenue reports across accommodations, admissions, and parking to refine sales strategies in real-time.
  • Seamless Sales & Hospitality Coordination
    1. Work in tandem with accommodation and event teams to ensure a smooth transition from sales to guest arrival, enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Campaign Execution
    1. Develop and implement marketing and sales campaigns to drive retreat and group sales during off-peak seasons.
  • Revenue Growth
    1. Identify and pursue revenue opportunities through targeted group sales initiatives, partnerships, and promotional efforts.
  • Customer Engagement
    1. Foster relationships with retreat organizers, event planners, and corporate groups to encourage repeat business.
  • Collaboration & Coordination
    1. Work closely with department managers to align sales initiatives with operational goals and guest experience enhancements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in hospitality sales, accommodations management, or event planning.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to support and mentor department managers.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales campaigns.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and drive bookings through creative package offerings.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
