Community Programs Manager

Experience Camps is a national nonprofit that transforms the lives of grieving children through no-cost summer camps, year-round programs, and a culture-shifting movement to normalize childhood grief. Our vision is a world where every grieving child has the support they need to thrive.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Community Programs Manager leads the design and implementation of community events (Meetups) and supports the ideation, piloting, and evaluation of new and bold, human-centered programs that expand access, deepen connection, and honor the lived experience of grieving children and families.

This role advances Experience Camps’ impact by designing and scaling initiatives that extend grief support beyond the bunk and into the culture, requiring creativity, collaboration, and strong execution to manage multiple projects while staying aligned with the innovation vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is not intended to be an exhaustive list. Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned:

COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING

  • Support the design and delivery of regional events and year-round programming that foster community and connection.

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and referral organizations, (e.g., community centers, nonprofits, bereavement centers, and sport teams) to host events for grieving families.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Program teams to promote events and recruit participants.

  • Recruit and train volunteers to implement events regionally.

  • Partner with caregivers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to co-create programming.

  • Collect and analyze participant feedback to ensure programs are impactful, safe, and inclusive.

  • Represent Experience Camps via in-person attendance at events and through phone calls, mass and tailored email messages, and other communication channels.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT

  • Support the Director of Program Innovation in exploring emerging opportunities in grief programming.

  • Assist in the piloting and refining new concepts that meet grieving kids and families, both in-person and in digital formats.

  • Collect and analyze participant feedback to ensure programs are impactful, and are meeting the intended goals of the pilot period.

EXPECTATIONS & COMPENSATION

  • 40 hours/week (standard schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 9-5/10-6 ET, depending on location) with flexible hours to account for calls and meetings in the evenings

  • Primarily remote position with occasional in-person requirements. This role includes periodic travel to the Westport, CT office for team collaboration, as well as in-person participation at certain programs and events. Full on-site availability is required during camp weeks in July and August, along with occasional travel throughout the year for scheduled events and meetings.

  • Annual base salary range: $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience

  • In addition to the annual base salary, Experience Camps offers a benefits package for full-time employees including employer-subsidized health, wellness, and technology benefits; a healthcare concierge service; flexible work scheduling; telecommuting; paid holidays; and PTO, bereavement, and parental leave offerings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing successful programs from pilot to scale.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Comfort with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
